Are you looking for service opportunities? \n\n\n\nProject Finding Calcutta is very excited to welcome Vera Aqua Vera Vita to join us for a half day to serve the poorest of the poor in the spirit of Mother Teresa. Vera Aqua Vera Vita (VAVV) is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering communities in need through access to clean water\, sanitation\, and hygiene. We’re excited to bring this mission of dignity and hope into our local DFW community by serving with Project Finding Calcutta. We will begin with fellowship\, prayer\, and the orientation\, and then we separate into smaller groups to go comfort the elderly at nursing homes\, work at a community garden\, help the Missionaries of Charity sisters in assisting low income families or homeless pregnant women\, make lunch and serve at soup kitchens\, organize items at food pantries\, and/or feed the homeless on the streets. \n\n\n\nFollowing the service event\, all are invited to continue fellowship over lunch (optional)\, provided by Vera Aqua Vera Vita. \n\n\n\nThis is a family friendly event\, so children of all ages are welcome. We encourage everyone to RSVP here\, so we can let the places of service know how many people to expect. Like Mother Teresa said\, “let us do something beautiful for God.” \n\n\n\nSPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: \n\n\n\n1. LOCATION: Please meet us under the carport\, between Jesus and Mary. \n\n\n\n2. PROJECTS: The event begins at the location below but most of you will go to different service sites after the orientation\, so please don’t be late. \n\n\n\n3. NEW VOLUNTEERS: serving with us for the first-time\, please Register here before RSVPing to this event. In 2026\, we are dealing with a new kind of poverty in a new world. Rapidly changing technology is shaping societies and changing lifestyles. \n\n\n\nProject Finding Calcutta is partnering with University of Dallas Campus Ministry to unpack Pope Leo’s first apostolic exhortation\, Dilexi Te. This brief and powerful document addresses different kinds of poverty and what our duties are as Christians. Come and be enlightened by the wisdom of the Church and what it means to quench Jesus’ thirst. \n\n\n\nThe event begins with fellowship over a light lunch\, followed by a presentation and a small group workshop. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSPEAKER \n\n\n\nDr. Juan Rendon Director of Social Ministry (Diocese of Dallas)Dr. Rendon grew up in Mexico and Houston\, Texas. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Dallas in Irving\, master’s degrees in theology and pastoral ministry from the University of St. Thomas in Houston; and a doctorate in spirituality from The Catholic University of America in Washington\, D.C. \n\n\n\nDr. Rendon is the Director of Social Ministry for the Diocese of Dallas. He previously worked as a full-time affiliate instructor at the University of Dallas School of Ministry\, as coordinator of the pastoral dimension of formation at Holy Trinity Seminary in Irving\, and most recently as director of the diaconate formation program for the Diocese of Fort Worth. In addition\, Dr. Rendon serves as an adjunct professor of theological and pastoral studies for the Mexican American Catholic College in San Antonio.Dr. Rendon and his wife Anna have 5 children and they are parishioners of St. Jude’s. \n\n\n\nVENUE \n\n\n\nThe lecture will take place at the UD Catholic Center in the Anselm Hall at University of Dallas. SUMMARY:DFW Volunteers @ Nursing Homes
DESCRIPTION:Would you like to make a difference? Are you looking for service opportunities? \n\n\n\nJoin us for a half day to serve the poorest of the poor in the spirit of Mother Teresa. She said\, stay where you are… find your own Calcutta… the poor\, sick\, suffering and the lonely are everywhere… if you have the eyes to see. We will begin with a brief orientation at the location below and then separate into smaller groups to go comfort the sick\, suffering\, and the lonely at local nursing homes. \n\n\n\nMost weeks\, we continue the fellowship by grabbing dinner together (optional) after serving. \n\n\n\nThis is a family friendly event\, so children of all ages are welcome. Everyone that is planning to attend must RSVP here\, so we can let the places of service know how many people to expect. Like Mother Teresa said\, let us do “small things with great love.” \n\n\n\nINSTRUCTIONS:1. If this is your first time volunteering with us\, in addition to RSVPing below please also Register here (to sign the waiver). \n\n\n\n2. Meet us at the UD Tower. \n\n\n\n3. This is where it begins but you will go to different location(s) after the fellowship and orientation\, so don’t be late. \n\n\n\n4. There is no dress code to visit nursing homes. However\, if you are sick\, it is best that you do not participate this time. \n\n\n\n5. By serving with us\, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions (Liability Waiver). Everyone under 18 attending without a parent but with a chaperone should print the Liability Waiver and have it signed by the parent before coming to the event. \n\n\n\n6. Please do not go directly to the service locations\, out of respect for our collaborators\, our legal guidelines\, and your own safety. \n\n\n\n7. Some students will catch the 12:05 PM Mass at UD. \n\n\n\nThis is a family friendly event\, so children of all ages are welcome. We encourage everyone to RSVP here\, so we can let the places of service know how many people to expect. Like Mother Teresa said\, “let us do something beautiful for God.” \n\n\n\nSPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: \n\n\n\n1. LOCATION: Meet us at the UD Tower. \n\n\n\n2. PROJECTS: The event begins at the location below but most of you will go to different service sites after the orientation\, so please don’t be late. \n\n\n\n3. NEW VOLUNTEERS: serving with us for the first-time\, please Register here before RSVPing to this event. Everyone must sign these waivers before volunteering. One Waiver per family is sufficient. \n\n\n\n4. GROUPS: Please send us a message before bringing 10+ volunteers from your group. \n\n\n\n5. MINORS: By serving with us\, everyone is agreeing to these terms and conditions (Liability Waiver). It really helps with the unpacking of the experience. \n\n\n\nThis is a family friendly event\, so children of all ages are welcome. Service opportunities change every week based on the number of our volunteers and the needs of our community partners. Everyone that is planning to attend must RSVP here\, so we can let the places of service know how many people to expect.
