Dilexi Te Lecture Series – I Have Loved You
October 25, 2025 @ 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm CDT
School of Service: I THIRST
(A Dilexi Te Lecture)
The School of Service is a collaborative initiative offering a deeper look into the Catholic Church’s Social Teachings. In 2025, we are dealing with a new kind of poverty in a new world. Rapidly changing technology is shaping societies and changing lifestyles.
Project Finding Calcutta is partnering with University of Dallas Campus Ministry to unpack Pope Leo’s first apostolic exhortation, Dilexi Te. This brief and powerful document addresses different kinds of poverty and what our duties are as Christians. Come and be enlightened by the wisdom of the Church and what it means to quench Jesus’ thirst.
The event begins with fellowship over a light lunch, followed by a presentation and a small group workshop.
SPEAKER

Br. Elijah Potter grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago and is an avid cinephile. After studying English Literature at Hillsdale College, he taught at Great Hearts in San Antonio for four years before entering a diocesan seminary. Before joining the monastery, an especially impactful summer spent with Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity gave Br. Elijah a love for and desire to serve the poor. The novitiate allowed him to enter more deeply into prayer and to build fraternal bonds with his novice brothers. As a junior monk, he is currently taking theology classes at the University of Dallas, teaching catechism at St. James in Oak Cliff, and working in the Abbey’s library.
